Sprayed Ag oxygen reduction reaction gas‐diffusion electrodes for the electrocatalytic reduction of CO <sub>2</sub> to CO

Gas-diffusion electrodes have been successfully employed in electrochemical chlorine production, and they also hold great potential the field of CO2 reduction. Herein, we demonstrate how sprayed Ag-based gas-diffusion electrodes, which show outstanding performance for reduction oxygen, need to be modified produce CO from CO2. A computer-controlled automated airbrush-type spraying setup is used systematically vary core fabrication parameters process investigate their effect on performance. Focused ion-beam milling combined with scanning electron microscopy provides deeper insight into structure serves combination data as measure optimisation. Eventually, can produced that suppress evolution H2 extent an average Faradaic efficiency 79% maintained at least 10 h a current density −100 mA∙cm−2.
